May 20th

Today for senior project I helped out Renny and the athletic trainers with performing their workout. Last time we helped them out they had us run through it to see how it was doing the exercises but this time they wanted to get us on video. They needed to video us because some of these exercises can be tricky to understand. They are planning to give this workout to the Proctor community. After that, we got more supplies for the jail like spray paint and tape. We need this for our last visit tomorrow where we will be finishing the lines. TOTAL HOURS: 52.5

Weekly Reflection 3

As we are winding down on senior project, our group is realizing the skills and communication skills you need to have in order to operate and we have been doing a great job at it. This week was probably our most packed week and we worked hard. On Monday, we went to make an assembly announcement for our 3v3 basketball tournament and where the money will be going but we weren’t able to because of awards. We then made the rules for the tournament and went to lunch to get more signups. We also got snacks for people to purchase at the tournament. On Tuesday, we got supplies to paint and went to the Merrimack County Jail. This was one of our more busy days at the jail because we had to paint the lines of the handball and basketball court and needed to be precise with the measurements and paint.  We got more signups and also wrote the rules out on a poster board. To end the day, we went to get waters and Gatorades to also sell at the tournament. On Wednesday, we met with Kelly and talked game

May 18th and 19th

Because the 5k was this weekend we decided we needed to use these days to set up and prepare. We started on Saturday with making copies for the numbers you wear in the race and also counting shirts. We did this for about an hour. On Sunday, we woke up early and got there early to set up the course. We went through the course and marked out the track. After that, we helped out with registration and then out ourselves set up to race. After running, we stayed after and helped with cleanup. It was a fun event to run in but also a great event to help setup and plan. TOTAL HOURS: 50.5

May 17th

Today for senior project we started the day off by helping out Kelly with setup for the 5k. We went over to the woodland office and got an ATV to measure out the track. We then got the measure from Trish. We used the two to drive the course and measure out the mile markers. After that, we helped Kelly out with the 5k T-shirts. We counted them out and folded them based on size. Tomorrow we will be setting up more stuff for the 5k in preparation for Sunday's race! TOTAL HOURS: 47.5

May 16th

Today for senior project I started the day off by helping Renny and the athletic trainers with a workout they are working on to release to the Proctor community. We also picked up shirts for the 5k race. After that, we made the bracket and wrote out the final rules for the 3v3 basketball tournament. After that, we helped out Kelly for our 5k training and also met for the 5k which is taking place this Sunday. After sports, we went to the gym early and set up the basketball tournament. We hen had the tournament and it worked out just as planned. A lot of people had fun and we had no problems with anything. We raised a good amount of money and are still going to get more throughout the rest of senior project. Overall, today was a great day! TOTAL HOURS: 45.5

May 15th

Today for senior project we started the day off by meeting with Kelly for the 5k. We went over what we need to do and also went to pin room and picked up some signs and cleaned them. After the meeting, we went to lunch to collect more of the money. After lunch, we made a bracket. After discussing, we realize that with the time it will make more sense to do single elimination instead of double. We then made it into a single elimination and are planning on finalizing it tomorrow. We also rewrote the poster for the rules for the tournament. TOTAL HOURS: 40

May 14th

Today for senior project we started the day off by going to the store to get more spray paint and painters tape for the gym. We then went over to the Merrimack County Jail to work on the gym. We started off by painting the handball court and then the paint for the basketball court. We ended up using all of our spray paint so we ordered more from the jail for our next visit where we will finish the lines. After the jail, we came back to campus and did sign ups at lunch. At lunch we also collected the 3 dollar fee for the basketball tournament. After lunch, we put together a rough draft of the bracket, which will be double elimination. We also wrote down our rules for the tournament and put it onto a poster board. We then went to Hannaford's and got Gatorades and waters for our basketball tournament which we will sell along with the chips. TOTAL HOURS: 36.5

May 13th

Today for senior project we started the day off by meeting as a group to discuss what we were going to say for our assembly announcement. Sadly, when we went to assembly we realized that it was awards so there was no time for us to make our announcement for our 3v3 basketball tournament. We then met as a group again to make the rules for our tournament on a google doc. What our next step for the rules is to put it into a poster so we can hang it up in the gym. We also went to lunch to get more signups and we got a couple more teams. We have a lot of teams, but need to collect money. After lunch, we went to Hannaford's to get snacks for our tournament to sell to people in attendance. The profit of the snacks will also go to the Taxi Fund. TOTAL HOURS: 31

Weekly Reflection 2

The second week of senior project just ended and we made significant progress throughout the week. We started this week off by meeting with Kelly and talking about our game plan for the 5k as well as how to get our signups for our 3v3 basketball tournament going. We went to lunch on Monday as well as other days to collect sign ups for the tournament and it worked well. We also individually reached out to some contacts in our phones to see if they were interested in taking part. On Tuesday we went to the Merrimack County Jail and started our work there. We used tape and a tape measure to line out the basketball court as well as the track we created around the gym. On Wednesday we made our flyer for the 3v3 basketball tournament and hung those around campus as well as getting the waiver set up. We also talked to Trish about supplies we need so we are in a good place regarding the basketball tournament. On Thursday we went back to the jail to hang up our posters. On the posters were five

May 10th

Today for senior project we started the day off by working on a survey for signups for our 3v3 basketball tournament. Since a lot of people don't go to lunch and are on their phones, we thought trying the survey would help. After we created the survey, we headed to lunch to try to get some sign ups. Because we weren't very successful, we decided to send out the survey and are still getting responses for teams and players who are interested. We have been getting positive feedback regarding the date change because a lot more people can participate now. Our next step is making the assembly announcement and opening Proctor's eyes to what we are donating the money to. TOTAL HOURS: 27.5

May 9th

Today for senior project we visited Merrimack County Jail. Once we arrived at the gym, we created and hung up our five posters which had the exercises we created for the inmates. Some of the exercises we put together was planks, pushups, and wall sits. We put these up so the inmates could try to improve everyday and get into the habit of doing these exercises often. We then noticed that they ripped our tape up from the basketball court to make the handball court which helped us because we were confused on where they played and what the court looks like. We are still waiting on the supplies from Marc to start painting the lines. After the jail, we went to lunch for sign ups and got a couple more teams to sign up. Since we changed date for the 3v3 basketball tournament we had to make a new flyer and go around campus again and put the new ones up. We are planning on an assembly announcement for next week. TOTAL HOURS: 25.5

May 8th

Today for senior project we started the day by making a flyer for our 3v3 basketball tournament. We included when the tournament is and how the money goes to the Taxi Fund for the inmates at the Merrimack County Jail. After we did that, we also got our waiver completed. We then went around campus and hung up the flyers. We also sat at lunch and got a lot of sign ups for the tournament. While getting sign ups, we ran into the problem that our date was Mother's Day so we are working for changing it to Thursday, May 16th. We talked to Trish about getting equipment and getting the clocks working for our tournament. After practice, we met as a group and discussed our new date and how we are going to continue sign ups. TOTAL HOURS: 22

May 7th

Today for senior project we went to the Merrimack County Jail. Here we started on our work for the gym space located inside the jail. We started by measuring and marking the floor for the basketball court. This took us some time because we wanted to be precise so the court would be the right length. We used the tape and tape measure we purchased to lay down the tape. We also measured out the gym to create a track that can be used. We found it to be 44 laps for a mile and taped it on the wall. The inmates love to play handball but we weren't sure how they like the court so one of the men that works there said he would ask and then get back to us when we return. After the jail, we got poster board and markers so next time we can hang it up and they can put their most reps for each exercise. TOTAL HOURS: 17.5

May 6th

Today for senior project we started the day off by meeting with Kelly. Here we talked about 5k signups as well as what we need to do for our basketball tournament. We also touched on starting another event next week. Because Conor and I volunteered to get our backs painted for someone's senior project, Ryan and Myles started getting signups at lunch. We are holding our tournament this Sunday, so we need to try to get an assembly announcement sometime this week. I also spent my night reaching out to people on my contacts seeing if they want to participate in our basketball tournament. We also started on a poster that we are going to use to put around campus to get people's attention about the event. TOTAL HOURS: 14.5

Weekly Reflection 1

The first week of senior project has come to a close and I am pretty happy with what our group has got done. We started the week off by meeting with Kelly to coordinate 5k sign ups as well as get the waiver ready for our 3 v. 3 basketball tournament. We also got a time slot for the gym so now we need to work on getting sign ups for the event and start to think about the bracket. We also got our first jail visit. I have never been inside a jail before so when we were walking through it I was very interested to see what it is like. Our first assignment at the Merrimack County Jail is to help out with the gym that they have. Our job was to put a proposal down about what we want in there and what we are going to do to fix it. Some things we will be working on is making lines for the basketball court, making a handball court, measuring out a track, and putting together some exercises as well as a leaderboard so the inmates can try to improve each day. We also went with Fiona Mills and her

May 3rd

Today was a tough day for senior project because I offered to give a tour at 10:30. Because of this, we didn't get the amount of hours we set out to get. After, our group sat down and talked about the days that we want to go to jail. We looked at our schedules for the rest of the year and we are coordinating with Marc who is helping us at the jail. We were thinking either Monday, Tuesday, or Thursday. We would pick 2 out of the three and are waiting on Marc for his best availability. We also touched on our presentation that we need to make for our basketball tournament and got that organized. We will also need to get sign ups for the basketball tournament. TOTAL HOURS: 12.5

May 2nd

Today for senior project we went along with Fiona's US history class to the courthouse in Concord. Here we sat in on some trials, which includes an immigrant that served in the US military and is looking for US citizenship and one lady who was convicted of helping distribute fetanyl. Sitting in on these trials was really interesting for me because I never knew how it worked. After the trials, we talked with a lawyer and he answered some of our questions. We learned that the lady was part of some bigger bust which has been being processed for over a year. This really helped us get a different point of view as we are helping out in the jail as well. This showed us the stage before these people get incarcerated. TOTAL HOURS: 12

May 1st

Today for senior project we went to Concord to collect some of the tools for the jail gym. These tools were things like the tape measure and painters tape to. We needed these to make the lines in the gym for the basketball hoop, handball court, and track. After practices and games we got together to talk about what we were going to say for the presentation we will make at assembly as well as talk over our proposal for the jail. This proposal has to be approved by the assistant superintendent of the jail before we can begin to work on our project. We took our time with this because it needs to be detailed regarding exactly what we want in the jail gym. Although our day was cut short from practice and game times, we had a successful day of work. TOTAL HOURS: 7.5
